webmail.dynamic.net end-of-life

The value/free email server, webmail.dynamic.net, is end-of-life and being retired.

This older system does not meet the new standards to prevent a single malware-infected user from flooding the system(s) with SPAM. When that happens, as we saw earlier this month, a single-user can bring disrupt everyone by causing the server to become blacklisted.

We know that email is critical to your business operations. We began informing customers in April about the retirement of this platform and free migration to Enterprise Hosted Exchange.

Free migration performed by experts
24/7 support with typical hold times of <60 seconds
99.999% uptime guarantee
Protection from McAfee, a global leader in data loss prevention

webmail.dynamic.net Outage

The value/free email server, webmail.dynamic.net, is recovering from the effects of a single user whose password was compromised, or whose Outlook was infected by Malware.

Following the compromise, the account was used to send hundreds of thousands of SPAM messages. This resulted in a flood of outgoing emails, as well as bounced messages, to be processed by webmail.dynamic.net, our outgoing smtp.dynamic.net and the barracuda spam/virus firewall. Additionally, the activity caused our server to be placed on several world-wide blacklists.

It took time to locate and disable the offending domain, switch to our backup barracuda hardware, mitigate the blacklisting and clear the mail queues from the three affected servers. While the first three items are complete, we remain in the process of selectively removing the offending emails on webmail and smtp. This process should be completed in the next few hours and you should see some delayed emails showing up in your inbox.

For customers where email is critical to business operations, we began informing you last month about the retirement of this email platform and a free migration and on-boarding to our Enterprise Exchange Hosting platform. Guaranteed to eliminate SPAM, this platform is managed 24/7 by experts to prevent this type of disruption by an infected user.

We apologize for the inconvenience this has on your business. Please contact us ASAP to migrate and eliminate disruptions in the future.

Edison Planned Power Outage – Friday April 29, 2016

Edison will be performing major upgrades to the power infrastructure servicing our office and temporary data center. Power will be disrupted Friday evening at 10PM and restored Saturday at 6AM.

In an abundance of caution, we are shutting down services in this data center starting at 8PM and restoring services early Saturday morning. The affected customers have email/web hosting on one of our Plesk Control Panels – panel5.dynamic.net – and customers using our smtp.dynamic.net relay server.

Incoming Email will be queued and delivery will be delayed until panel5 comes back online early Saturday. No Email should be lost. Outgoing email may remain in your Outbox until services are restored.

We have been busy migrating customers to our new servers at AWS, which are immune to these types of disruptions and we expect to have the remaining sites/Email services upgraded in the coming weeks.

If you need an emergency replacement UniBasic/dL4 license, please ssh to demossn.dynamic.com with your credentials, as the web client portal on unibasic.com and dynamic.com will be offline.

Partial Outage April 14, 2016

Services hosted in one of our data centers experienced a disruption late Thursday afternoon when a core router failed. The affected services included our primary mail filter, smtp services, our support ticketing system and one of our shared hosting servers. Services at AWS and our second data center were not directly affected.

The router was replaced and services were restored within 4-hours. We apologize for the inconvenience.
